Cub Scout Pack 89

In March our Webelo I scouts completed their Communicator Activity Badge.  As part of this activity our scouts were asked to e-mail items that they learned.  Here are some of their responses:

1:I learned that there are different stations on the ham radio.

2:I learned that the ham radio is more complicated than a cellphone.

3:I learned that morris code also has flag signals for boats in war.

I learned about morse code and how it can be used as almost like English.

Also how far someone can send a signal, some people can send to the

middle of the Pacific .

and how many jobs there are, like a cartoonist.

• Saturday, Jan. 14 from 1pm – 3pm@ United Methodist Church – Work Session
• Thursday, Jan. 19 @ 5:45pm @ United Methodist Church – Registration starts
• Thursday, Jan. 19 @ 6:30pm – Registration closes & RACE STARTS!

This is to let all scouts know that our annual popcorn sale starts on Saturday, October 1st. If you haven’t received an order sheet and prize sheet, please contact you den leader for one.

For those scouts interested in participating in the Platteville Memorial Day Program, please be at Platteville City Park (City Hall) @ 9:00am on Monday, May 30.  Please wear your Class A uniform and we will be helping to lead the Pledge of Allegiance.

 I am also looking for information on the following:

Brat Sale (Sat. June 18th – Heiser Hardware):  Need volunteer for the following (Total # volunteers in Parenthesis):
     Setup @ 8am: Currently have 8-10 volunteers (probably good for help)
     9am – 11am: Currently have 4 volunteers (2 scouts, 2 adults)?
     11am – 1pm: Currently have 0 volunteers
      1pm – 3pm: Currently have 2 volunteers (1 scout, 1 adult)
     Cleanup @ 3pm: Currently have 0 volunteers
      Dessert Donation (individually wrapped – nothing that melts in sun): Currently have 2 volunteers

Madison Mallards Game (Sun. July 24 – Leave Platteville 2:30pm, Game @ 5:05pm):
    Need to know by the Brat Sale who wants to go (need name and total family members)
    $20 per family – will get full refund if attend

Day Camp (June 20 – 23 Lancaster Fairgrounds)
   If you are walking, please let me know how many scouts your vehicle will hold.

Reminder to all of the scouts in Pack 89, all popcorn sales are due to our Cubmaster, Chris Brunette, by Thursday October 28, 2010. There are no extensions or exceptions! Please do your best to get the popcorn to your den leader sometime next week or you will have to deliver the forms and money out to Chris that night.

Keep up the good work and remember to contact all of your neighbors, family, and friends to encourage them to purchase popcorn for scouts!
